The Age Of The Universe

From a superficial reading of the Bible it seems that the event of Creation occurred around six-thousand years ago.

However, the world contains many things that seem to indicate an age of much greater than six-thousand years.

One or more of the following approaches can be used to reconcile the apparent contradiction.

• The world was created already mature. In fact, we know that Adam was created as a grown up person. We can therefore assume that had he chopped down a tree on the first day of his existence, he would have found rings. There are rays of light that originated from stars that are billions of light-years away. They were brought here during the six days of creation.
• Perhaps, during the days of creation events happened at a much faster pace than they do today. Maybe what would today take a millennium took but a few moments during these six special days. Science has yet to prove otherwise.
• Our dating and measurement techniques that rely on interpolation and human discovery may be off. Science is not infallible.
• Distortion probably occurred as a result of the Great Flood.

Science does not and can not disprove the model of creation.

According to the Kabala, the world has no independent existence. Instead, the existence of reality as we know it is being continually renewed by the will of G-d. From this perspective, the world has no age because whatever we see now did not exist a moment ago, even though it appears otherwise.

As stated previously, September 21 1998  is the 5,759^th anniversary of Adam’s first day.
